Application:
The THOR Image Badging System is used for design and production of Access Cards
for the THOR Access Control System as Employee Badges, e.g. with the individual card holder’s
name, picture and signature printed.
The Access Cards can be tailor made to suit the individual companies’ needs for
combined Employee Badges and Access Cards.
The text fields to be printed on the badge, such as “Name”, “Department”, “Expire
Date” etc. as well as the employees picture can automatically be transferred from the card database
to the Badge.
Pictures can be taken “on-site” with a digital colour camera or with a CCTV camera
connected to the PC via a Video Grabber card. The badge can be previewed before
printing.
Badge Design and Usage
The size, font and the colour of the data fields (max. 10) can be freely chosen
when designing the layout and the badge can be produced in both horizontal and
vertical format.
The Badge itself can be coloured to indicate different access levels.
The encoding of the magnetic “HICO” stripe contains the site-code and the individual card
number.
The access levels and priorities of the Access Card are determined by the programming
in the THOR Security Management System (SMS) only, without any relation to the printed badge.
This allows the access level and corresponding time programming to be changed at
any time, without the need of re-programming or reprinting the badge.
Installation
The THOR Image Badging Software can be installed as an option to the THOR Security
Management System, without changing any data in the existing databases.
The THOR Security Management System with the Image Badging Software installed runs under Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP.
Both programmes have been designed with user friendliness in mind.
The Badge Creator Programme
The Badge Creator Programme allows the user to design the Employee Badges.
When the card format, one or two sided printing, horizontal or vertical orientation
have been chosen, the text, the text fields from the THOR Security Management System
(SMS) database, the
signature area, logo and the picture area can be chosen.
It is possible to place the logo or other graphics behind the text, as the Badge
Creator works in several layers.
When the design is finalised and saved, you can leave the programme and start printing
the badges from the SMS Card Edit Menu.
Printing and encoding of badges
When the badge design(s) has been created via the Badge Creator programme, you simply
open the SMS “Card Edit” menu, click on the “Load” button, chose the badge
design and add the picture.
The picture can be chosen from an existing picture database or taken “live” from
a Colour Camera connected via a Video Grabber Card to the PC running the THOR Security
Management System.
By choosing the “Card” button, a preview of the badge ready to be produced can be
seen.
The THOR Image Badging System supports several badge printer types, with or
without the card encoding facility.
The THOR Image Badging System, integrated with the THOR Security Management System,
offers an easy
to use and cost effective solution for combined Access Cards and
Employee Badges.
